A couple of other factors could well be at play here: First, while it‘s less critical in a short war, equipment standardization does provide a meaningful advantage when a conflict drags on and becomes attritional. The AFU is now struggling with a hodgepodge of arms and equipment from every corner of the globe while the items comprising Russia‘s weaponry and equipment are far less numerous and less complex. The Russians can, for example, raid damaged vehicles for spare parts because many are common across their equipment types… For the AFU that‘s harder: Parts from a Challenger’s suspension cannot easily replace those in a damaged one on an Abrams, a Leopard or a T-72. Second, while there was considerable doubt among Russians 2 years ago why they were being asked to fight a war against the Ukraine now it‘s widely accepted that they‘re defending themselves against the West as a whole, and thus internal dissent is much less of a factor, particularly outside Moscow and St. Petersburg, than it was at the outset of the conflict. That change in sentiment was reflected in Putin‘s resounding victory and reelection which - even assuming the process was to a major degree rigged - still gave him a solid absolute majority and a mandate to continue pressing forward with the war.

I work in the oil & gas industry. I've also visited Russian and spent roughly a year of my life in Ukraine. In 2011 when my company was expanding into Russia my bosses absolutely did not believe me, even when I provided quotes, that Russia could sell certain grades of steel cheaper than China. In particular low-temp steel, which is a low carbon steel made to tolerate the lower temps of the cold Russian climate. It's much less brittle. At the time my company was paying $6/lb for low temp steel from China. Russian quotes were $2/lb. Finally the CEO personally went to the steel mills and confirmed both the price and capacity. He was overwhelmed. He had absolutely no idea of Russia's industrial capacity. Russia still can't beat China in standard A36 production, the most used grade of steel, but in other grades it competes quite well.

They all believed each others lies. Thats why they thought they were gonna beat russia... Another thing not mentioned or remembered much in this money laundering operation(cause thats what it is for the xiden regime), is that the LPR/DPR soldiers did most of the heavy lifting for the first year or so as the russians came in and took rear guard positions while elite russian troops stormed kiev in an attempt to force the kiev regime to the table. Now the LPR/DPR troops are alright fighters but they not at the same caliber as russian troops. And I think this lulled the western dumbheads into a false sense of winning.

Since WW2 Russians learned war math. It takes few minutes on assembly line to make an artillery shell, few days to build a tank and 20 years to make a recruit. So they built their doctrine around that simple principle. Because of that, contrary to stupid Western propaganda, Russians are very loss adverse and their personnel losses are much lower than delusional Western media want us to believe.

Important to note: "Casualty" is any soldier who cannot perform military duties as a result of being KILLED or WOUNDED. Wounded soldiers (usually) greatly outnumber the dead. So, 1,000 casualties typically means, say, 200 dead and 800 wounded (most often with fairly minor wounds but not always).

The West believed its own propaganda. For example, Oryx propaganda group counted Ukrainian destroyed tanks and IFVs as Russian, the same with artillery pieces. ISW, mainstream media and western politicians pretended that they believed this BS (many really believed even after Iraq and Afghanistan wars). As a result Biden administration has a succession of euphoria bouts (when they watch mainstream media) and panic attacks (when a reality of the lost war sinks in).

The Russians have over 50 ethnicities. But you can't see division in the ranks because they're all proud to be Russians. In the USA we have CQ Brown telling us we have too many white pilots in the Air Force. Then stupidly wondering where the pilots went during a recruiting crisis. The Russians have a far superior military, because Russian officers don't have the same learning disability that American officers do.

When I was saying all these things two years ago, everyone I know turned their head and looked to Oryx as proof of the Russian army being destroyed. I will remind you, "professional analysts" and "think tanks" were producing paper after paper and video after video "proving" that the Russian army has been disabled with nothing but wishful thinking and a collection of cherrypicked anecdotes to back it up. And then those papers and videos went to the White House, Pentagon, news outlets and Congress while spinning in a cycle of self validating idiocy. And then when reality proved otherwise, they conjured stories of how the Russian army was "reconstituted", over and over and over again, insisting that the Russian Federation conjured up army after army out of nowhere. It was all nonsense all the way through and they still work around the clock in an attempt to come up with more fairy tales to cover up their lies and stupidity, while the Russians work around the clock making more machines. It is ultimately the result of woke madness.

During the years 2016-2017, President Vladimir Putin of Russia emphasised the importance of national defence readiness across various sectors of the country, including private and state-owned enterprises. This directive was part of a broader push to ensure that in the event of a war, all national resources could be quickly and effectively mobilised to support military operations. One aspect of this directive included requiring companies, especially those in key industries like shipping and manufacturing, to be able to adapt their facilities and output to meet military needs swiftly. This concept is analogous to historical measures taken by other countries, such as the United States, during World War II, when civilian factories were converted to produce war materials. In Russia's case, these preparations included potential conversions like modifying commercial roll-on/roll-off (Ro-Ro) vessels to serve naval military purposes, similar to practices in countries like China, where civilian infrastructure is designed to be convertible for military use in times of national emergency. This strategy reflects a doctrine of total defence, which integrates all sectors of the economy into the country's defence posture, enhancing the military's capacity to respond to threats without the delays of peacetime to wartime conversion. Such measures indicate a military doctrine that anticipates and plans for significant strategic confrontations, ensuring readiness through legal and logistical frameworks.

UK Mediazone says 800 dead Russian tankmen have been confirmed by name. If we consider that only one crew member died, that's 800 destroyed or damaged Russian tanks. Again, the West cannot understand that these tanks are not wonderweapons, they are means for carrying out a task and it is totally pointless to sacrifice the crew if that tank stopped for any reason... leave it, you will get another one! WW2 was the last war where the number of tanks on the battlefield and the number of tanks destroyed decided the winner, now... not the least!
